Our journey started over a decade with the vision to make Pakistan "A Hepatitis Free
Country" and by the Grace of Almighty we have grown in stature with the passage of time.
A majority of people get infected with the diseases due to lack of awareness and prevention
which remains inexplicably low globally. An estimated 12 million Pakistani population is effected with
Hepatitis B and C. The prevalence of Hepatitis in Pakistan is the second highest in the world which is an
alarming situation for the nation.
THF made its mark after successful intervention of Hepatitis Free
Community Project in Korangi. The HFCP projects were very effective and replicated in high prevalent areas
across Pakistan. Challenges like the war against Hepatitis cannot be fought alone. Looking at the current
alarming situation in Pakistan we are focused on bringing together all public and private organizations
working on Hepatitis by learning from each other's experience and working in cohesion with each other.
Keeping in view the numbers of increasing patients every year THF has increased its scope of work by
holding screening camps and multiple sentinel treatment to treat and find "The Missing Millions".
I am proud to share that THF is blessed with an energetic and motivated team who are working round the clock
for the cause of Hepatitis free Pakistan. Moreover, special thanks to my fellow trustees, donors and
supporters. We have a long way to go and I look forward to everyone for joining hands with The Health
Foundation.
