Hepatitis B & C Awareness

At The Health Foundation (THF), we believe that awareness is the first step towards prevention and elimination of Hepatitis B & C. Pakistan is among the most affected countries in the world, and currently holds the No.1 global ranking for Hepatitis C infections, with an estimated 8.8 million people living with this disease. With the right knowledge and preventive practices, these infections can be avoided.

Why Awareness Matters

Hepatitis B & C are often called silent killers, as many people remain unaware of being infected until these viruses lead to severe liver disease. Through awareness and education, communities can learn how these viruses enter their body, how to protect themselves, and where to seek help.

THF Awareness Sessions

To spread this vital knowledge, THF has conducted numerous awareness

sessions across Pakistan.

These sessions focus on:

  • – Educating communities about the causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of Hepatitis B & C
  • – Highlighting the importance of vaccination, safe medical practices, and early screening
  • – Training individuals to recognize unsafe medical practices, including the reuse of needles and/or syringes, and unscreened blood transfusions
  • – Ensuring that the barber uses a new blade when cutting hair or shaving
  • – Encouraging people to get tested and to seek timely treatment
