Screening Process for Hepatitis B & C
Visit Our Screening Centers
People can walk into any of The Health Foundation’s screening centres in Sindh and Punjab for free Hepatitis B & C testing.
Registration
The person’s personal details (name, age, contact) are recorded.
Blood Sample Collection
Two drops of blood are drawn using a sterile lancet (finger prick).
Rapid Screening Test
– The blood sample is placed on a Rapid Test Kit
– Four drops of dilution buffer are added to the blood
– The kit shows results in 5 – 15 minutes
– One line = Negative (no infection)
– Two lines = Positive (infection suspected)
Counselling
The person is informed about his/her result.
If negative, they are advised on how to stay safe and prevent infection.
If positive, they are guided regarding further testing.
Confirmatory PCR Test
For positive cases, a PCR Test is performed to confirm if the infection is active.
Referral for Treatment
Patients diagnosed with Hepatitis B or C are connected to THF partner treatment centers for free treatment.
